William W. White Jr, a renaissance man, 83, passed away on Thursday February 1, 2018 in Pittsburgh, PA. He was born to the late William White and Mary Sailer on April 18, 1934, in Philadelphia. Brother of the late Welsh S. White, of Pgh. Bill graduated from Penn Charter in 1951 and received a BA in English from Princeton University in 1955 cum laude. He traveled to Europe, to explore his faith, to learn painting and German. He also traveled to other places such as India. In his mid 30's he gradually lost his sight. Through this hardship he continued his creativity as an author, reciting scriptures, stories and poems as well as music particularly singing and playing the piano. His previous wife Ingrid Hungershausen, who he married in 1962, encouraged him to become an artist. In Santa Fe he married, Thelma Pierce in 1976 who was also interested in the arts, especially the piano. In his last years he lived at Schenley Gardens Senior Facility, attended St. Paul's Cathedral, continuing his scriptures, music and walking outdoors. In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to the Oakland Girls Choir or other music organizations. Bill is survived by his brother Alexander White of Henrico, VA, daughter Delia White of Pittsburgh and nephews Henry White of Regent Square and Robin White of Brighton Heights. Friends will be received of Friday February 9, 2018 in the Edward P. Kanai Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Funeral Service at 12 Noon in the Funeral Home.
