Amy Elizabeth Startari
August 18th 1973 ----- January 30th 2026
Irvine, California
Amy Elizabeth Startari of Irvine, CA passed away on 30 January 2026 after a hard-fought, deeply courageous battle with cancer. She was born on August 18, 1973 in Beaufort, SC to Jodi and Betsy (née Bennett) Startari. Amy was raised in a blended family, which included her birth parents, who later remarried; and, which was enriched by the loving care of her stepmother Cindy Startari and stepfather Alfred Lurey. She had two sisters, Mollie and Allison Lurey, whom she helped raise, and a younger brother, Paul Startari - all of whom she loved; claimed as her pseudo-children; and protected fiercely. Amy spent most of her teenage years living between Atlanta, GA and Clearwater, FL.
Amy was well known at Clearwater High School for her talents on stage and on the track field. Graduating from high school in 1991, Amy went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts degree in theater at Florida State University, class of 1995. There, she was an active member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority - a sisterhood she cared deeply for; and, one that made her best college memories.
In 2000, Amy moved to Los Angeles, CA to pursue acting; but later found herself called to spiritual healing. Growing up, Amy was always incredibly psychic – a gift she credits was passed down from her beloved grandmother, Rose. Given her childhood focus on caring for her younger siblings, it is no surprise that she found such a passion in helping and connecting with others in need.
Amy was widely recognized for her gifts and her commitment to helping others navigate pain, uncertainty, and transformation. Through her pseudonym, Clarity Chick, she presented herself as a natural-born healer who devoted her life to spiritual mastery and what she described as deep energetic soul work, intuitive visions, and spiritual guidance. She described childhood experiences of sensing and relieving others’ pain. Amy believed her calling was to help people change outcomes by addressing their deeper emotional, mental, and spiritual patterns.
What distinguished Amy for so many people was how she made them feel - seen, understood, and less alone. When others felt stuck emotionally and spiritually; or were in life’s hardest transitions; she was the person most likely to bring clarity, calm and a credible path forward. When visiting Amy throughout the 2000s, it was impossible to walk with her down the streets of Beverly Hills or West Hollywood, without someone approaching to share how she had affected their life and that they never met a healer like her.
When you went to a party in LA with Amy, she knew everybody, from the bouncers to the busboys to the biggest stars in the room. She was always in search for a sense of community often bringing people together through her cooking. She loved nothing more than hosting a meal, guaranteed to serve triple the number of guests at her table. Amy was a magnificent cook, with an intuitive touch in the kitchen. She loved creating dishes from the Italian recipes she learned from her dad, recipes that had been passed down through generations. Cooking was her love language, and every dish she made carried a piece of her heart.
Amy is survived by her parents and stepparents; sisters Mollie (nee Lurey) MacDougall and Allison (nee Lurey) Nixon; nieces and nephews River, Noah, Elijah, Isla, Meira, and Zelie; along with uncles, aunts, cousins, and in-laws who cared deeply for Amy and remember her lovingly.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents; Walter and Katie Bennett and Rose and Fran Startari; and her brother, Paul Startari, who passed away in 2024; beside whom, Amy will be laid to rest.
Family and friends will be received from 9 to 11 AM on Thursday, February 26th, at the Edward P. Kanai Funeral Home, 500 Greenfield Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15207. A Blessing service will take place at 11 AM. Friends and family are invited to a reception following the proceedings at the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider contributing to a fundraiser for Diane Younan, Amy's devoted friend who quit her job to care for Amy around the clock throughout her illness and took on extreme financial hardship in doing so. https://gofund.me/a4fcb5908
