Suddenly, on Wednesday, December 23, 2020, Anthony Charles Merced-Kelly, loving son, brother, grandson, great-grandson, nephew, cousin and friend, passed away at the age of 20.
Anthony was born on January 10, 2000, in Pittsburgh, PA, to Javier and Heather, and was an awesome big brother to Mya. He was a 2018 graduate of Taylor Allderdice High School, #taylorgang. Anthony went on to receive his Specialized Technology Degree in Refrigeration and HVAC Technology from Triangle Tech and was employed by Five Star Refrigeration (a job Anthony loved!). Both he and his family were so proud of these accomplishments.
Anthony had a passion for family, friends, and life. He enjoyed hanging out with his friends and loved spending time and hanging out with his sister, Mya; his older cousin group and best friends forever, Jake, Becca, Samira, Theresa, Micayla, Jaylynne; best friends, Sean Bane and Bobby Wrigley; and horsing around with his younger cousins, Jonathan and Mia. Anthony loved spending time with all his family, especially at Nanna and Gram’s house and at uncle Mark and aunt Colleen’s. He loved family gatherings, holidays, and especially family camping trips in Tionesta and Parker. Anthony was so looking forward to celebrating his 21st Birthday with family and friends. His plans were to go to the Improv, sit back with a few drinks, chill and laugh.
Anthony will be remembered for his kind, caring, giving, compassionate spirit, his infectious smile, and for making everyone around him, smile and laugh. And for being a prankster! Anthony was the “helper” of our family, from the time he was a young boy, willingly and selflessly giving of himself to all.
As heartbroken and saddened as we are, we are comforted by the spirit of his love, laughter, loyalty and friendship.
Anthony is joining his grandpa Juan, pap Wayne Kelly and great-uncle Charles Fratangelo. Leaving behind his loving father and mother, Javier and Heather, sister, Mya; grandma, Yolanda Castellano; nanna, Cindy Kelly; pap, Michael (Lisa) Kelly; great-grandmother’s, DoraLee Fitzhenry and Florence Kelly Schaefer; uncle’s, Isaac and Joel Merced, and Michael (Nikki), Jason, Jeffrey (Kelly) Kelly; aunt, Hope Kelly. Also survived by many, many, many more adoring and loving aunts, uncles and cousins. Friends will be received on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.in the Edward P. Kanai Funeral Home, 500 Greenfield Ave. 15207. Funeral Thursday at 9:30 a.m. in the Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Paul Cathedral parish, St. Stephen worship site.
