Caroline P Trautman, 102 ¾ years young, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 26th, 2023. Caroline was born in Pittsburgh, PA on December 24, 1920, one of four children to the late Domenico and Mary (Demaria) Piraino. From the day she was born she was blessed being a Christmas Eve baby. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Rose Marie Spagnolo, Florence Spagnolo and Vincent Piraino, and nephew, Anthony Spagnolo. Caroline was a resident of Greenfield since the 1960’s and resided at the Greenfield Terrace Apartments since 1990’s. She was a graduate of Westinghouse High School class of 1939. Caroline was a faithful member of St. Rosalia Church and Napoleone Colaianni #12 of Italian Sons & Daughters of America. Survived by her loving nieces and nephews, JoAnn (Tom) Carlucci Ondrey, Mary Lou (Ron) Polakowski, Leonard (Judy) Spagnolo Sr. and Leo ( Leslie) Spagnolo; great nieces and nephews, Renee Carlucci, Leonard Spagnolo Jr., Steve (Maria) Polakowski and Mike (Kari) Polakowski; also survived by great-great nieces and nephews, Nate, Kade, Connor, Isabele, Lauren, Rochelle and Jocelyn.
The family would like to acknowledge their gratitude with a special thanks to Jefferson Hospital, 4 North nurses, aides, Hospice caregivers and the many others who came in contact with Caroline.
Friends will be received on Friday, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in The Edward P. Kanai Funeral Home, 500 Greenfield Ave. 15207. Funeral Saturday at 9;30 a.m. in the Funeral Home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Paul Cathedral Parish—St. Rosalia Worship Site.
