Dominic DiPaolo passed peacefully on Saturday, August 22, surrounded by his family. He was born in Gamberale, in the Abruzzo section of Italy on August 24, 1951. Preceded in death by his parents Carmine and Elisabetta DiPaolo and brother-in-law, Bruce Hock. Survived by his beloved wife of almost 50 years Janet, son Carmine Lee (Roxanna) DiPaolo, Granddaughter Lucy Grohowski; great-grandchildren Liam and Levi Meyers; brother Pasquale (Patricia) DiPaolo, sister Matilda Hock, Brother Anthony (Marilyn) DiPaolo. Nieces Anita DiPaolo, Bethany (Christopher) Hudac, Jane (Michael) Thompson; great nephews Owen, Jackson, Max and Ben, great nieces Allie and Lilly. As well as extended family and friends.

Dominic came to this country in 1958 with his family, and they settled in a 3-story home on Ward Street in the Oakland section of Pittsburgh. He was a hardworking and loving family man taking on many household projects and seeing them from draft to completion with pride. With an incredible zest for love and life he treated everyone like family and took his time to make sure whether it was snow removal or just a friendly hello everyone knew he was there to lend a hand. He had a love of animals, especially his dogs, parrots, and iguana.

Dominic was the life of the party and never missed an opportunity to be involved with his son and the neighborhood children, from sled riding to water gun battles and all the board games in-between.  He will be missed beyond measure by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. We know his love and compassion will live through all of us for years to come.  

Friends will be received on Friday from 2pm to 8pm in The Edward P. Kanai Funeral Home 500 Greenfield Ave. 15207. Funeral Saturday at 9:30am in the Funeral Home with Funeral Mass at 10am at St Thomas the Apostle Parish, St. Therese Worship Site.
