Doris C. Bell, 99, of Pittsburgh, PA died on July 30, 2026. Nee Doris Martin Colvin, Doris was the last surviving of five sisters, the daughters of James and Ethel Colvin. Doris passed away on July 30, 2026, in her residence at the Ahava Memory Care Facility of the JAA, in Pittsburgh. She is survived by three of her four children, Thomas, Kathryn, and Virginia. Her son Donald, her devoted and tireless caregiver in Pittsburgh, passed in March of 2023. She is also survived by six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, who live in California, Illinois, Oregon, North Carolina, and New York.

Doris worked as a physical and speech therapist, specializing in the care and early intervention treatment of infants born with physical disabilities. After her retirement, she continued to care for clients in private practice in and around the Pittsburgh area, remaining dedicated to their success and ongoing welfare. Doris loved all her babies and children, and they loved her. She was a dedicated and tireless mother, and a powerful role model to her family of personal strength, perseverance in the face of hardship, kindness, and love of life.

Doris was born and raised in India and Pakistan, where her father and mother worked as a pastor and schoolteacher, respectively, and where she developed a deep love of service to others, cultural diversity, travel, music, theater, and, especially, the natural world around her. She always pointed out to her children and grandchildren the many wonders she perceived at her fingertips. Doris lived her final challenging years as she lived her whole life: with grace, with patience, with a ready smile and a gentleness of soul. She will be greatly missed by her family and all those who had the fortune to know her.
