Dorothy Faas Obituary

The world lost a beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Dorothy Mae Pflaum Faas, on October 8, 2021, age 92. Dorothy was born in Pittsburgh on November 15, 1928, the daughter of the late Gustave Robert Pflaum and Elizabeth Margaret Klotz Pflaum. Dorothy graduated from Taylor Allderdice High School located in Pittsburgh’s Squirrel Hill neighborhood. In 1949, Dorothy married the love of her life and together they started a family. Dorothy was a devoted homemaker and later retired from Campbell Soup Company where she worked as a secretary and completed courses in business education and shorthand at Duquesne University School of Business Administration. Dorothy always gave freely of herself, shining her light for others when needed. She enjoyed volunteering in her community at Immanuel (Pittsburgh) and Trinity (Erie) Lutheran Churches, Chestnut Hill Elementary School, and through her association with the Woman’s Club of Erie. Dorothy loved life, sewing, gardening, and the Pittsburgh Steelers. But most of all she loved her “little family” and enjoyed every moment spent with them. She brought out the best in every situation and every person, and was known to all as “Gram”. In addition to her parents Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, William Andrew Faas Jr., her brothers Robert and Wilbur Pflaum, and her sisters Louise (Eskofier), Margaret (Ellis), and Mary Ruth (Woleslagle). Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Karen Lynn Faas Marovich (fiancé Loran Galpin), grandsons, Eric Michael Marovich (Lynda) and Ryan Scott Marovich, great grandchildren, Max William and Ada Lane Marovich. Family and friends are invited to visit at the Kanai Funeral Home, 500 Greenfield Ave., Pittsburgh, PA on October 19, 2021 from 4-8 with the time of memorial service on October 20, 2021 beginning at 11:00 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Allegheny Cemetery.
