Eugene "Gene" Vilsack Obituary

Eugene “Gene” Vilsack 66, of Greenfield. Passed suddenly at home on Sunday, March 23, 2025. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Sandra (Litsko) Vilsack; his daughter and light of his life, Lindsay (John) Hadlock; brother, Regis Vilsack Jr.; many sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Regis and Mary Vilsack, Jr.; sister, Mary Catherine Smigiel; and sister-in-law, Karen Vilsack. Gene was a lifelong resident of Greenfield. He loved his family, music and cars. He was a dedicated employee of Bastone’s Auto Service for the last 25 years. He was loyal and generous, a friend to all animals, and loved by stray cats everywhere. He will be missed by many. Friends will be received on Thursday from 2-8 p.m. in the Edward P. Kanai Funeral Home, 500 Greenfield Ave. 15207. A Blessing Service will be held at 11 a.m. in the funeral home on Friday. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to an animal shelter of your choice.
