Gloria T Ferguson 85 of Pittsburgh, PA died on Saturday, January 25, 2025 in Pittsburgh. Gloria was the oldest of 15 born to Sylvia Williams and John McCorkle. She was born in Philadelphia, PA on April 20, 1939. She graduated from Hallahan Sr High School and began a new life in Pittsburgh where she went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in business from Pitt and a Masters in Industrial Labor and Labor Relations from St. Francis University. She was a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Gamma Chi Omega Chapter. Gloria worked for several companies and finally as a recruiter for Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. After retirement she enjoyed volunteering for many organizations, her favorite being the senior citizens centers and helping people prepare taxes. Gloria also enjoyed acting and appeared in several ads for local and national brands. She always looked forward to working the Polls during Election Season helping with the Census gathering data. She was very civic minded and always willing to lend a hand to neighbors, she was the PROBLEM SOLVER! Gloria regularly attended St. Stephens Catholic Church until her health did not permit. In her later years she enjoyed attending Saturday church services and an evening dinner out with her dear friends who faithfully met with her every Saturday possible. Gloria was preceded in death by her father John McCorkle, husband Paul Ferguson Sr., sons Brian Coles Sr., and Mark McCarthy, daughters LaMoin Evans and Darlene Jones. Sisters Mona Newkirk, Maxine Holmes, Cynthia Moore and brothers Gary Williams Sr, Calvin Williams, Sr. and Larry Williams. She is survived by her 100 year old mother Sylvia Williams, sons Anthony Coles Sr., Curtis Newkirk Sr. and daughter Traci Coles, 20 grandchildren and several great grands and a great great grandson Friends will be received on Friday, January 31st from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Edward P. Kanai Funeral Home, 500 Greenfield Ave. 15207. Funeral Saturday, at 9:30 a.m. in the Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Paul Cathedral Parish—St. Rosalia Church.
