James "Monk" Montgomery Obituary
James Montgomery “Monk” 75 formerly of Hazelwood. Passed peacefully on Monday September 7, 2026. Preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Mary, sister Mary Catherine (Jay) Gallo and brother Ronnie. Survived by his son James (Valerie) Montgomery Jr, daughter Erin (Jeff) Meholic; siblings Patricia (John) Mirabella, Barbara (Bill) Glaneman. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Monk was a proud graduate of Duquesne University and the former owner of Yesterdays bar and grill for many years. He was a passionate sports fan – he loved cheering on the Pittsburgh Pirates and Penguins, and some of his favorite memories were made spending time with friends on the golf course. He was truly the life of the party; funny, quick-witted, and always ready with a joke or a story that could make everyone in the room laugh. Above all, he will be remembered for his humor, his friendships, his love of sports, and the joy he brought into the lives of those around him. He leaves behind countless memories, stories, and laughs that will continue to live on in the hearts of everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Friends will be received on Friday September 18 from 4pm to 7:30pm in The Edward P. Kanai Funeral Home 500 Greenfield Ave. 15207. A service will take place in the funeral home at 7:30 pm.
