Joseph Brown Obituary

Brown, Joseph M. Jr. On Saturday Sept.17,2022 at 3:20 p.m. Joe Brown drew his last breath. Preceded in death by his loving wife Terri (DiCesare) Brown, his darling daughter Allison, his parents Joseph and Ethel Brown, and brother Timothy (Surviving wife Bonnie) Brown. Loving father of Lisa (Gregory) Gratton and Melissa (Joseph) Panchura. Grandfather of Garrett and Lindsey Gratton, Penelope, and Ryan Panchura. Brother of Mary Lou Burkett, Evelyn (the late Ray) Macko, Ruth (the late Rich) Carothers, Anne (the late Jack) Bombulie and Dennis (Chrissy) Brown. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Joe was a proud lifelong resident of Greenfield, played for the Greenfield Preps, served in the U.S. Army, worked for J & L Steel and the City Housing Authority until his retirement. For fun Joe worked the beer stands at I. C. Light Amphitheater and the Palumbo Center. Joe served his community by running the 4th of July races for many years and by serving as commander of the Soldiers and Sailors Social Club. One of Joes favorite pastimes was doing crossword puzzles. We often could not find puzzles that would challenge him enough. He was a diehard Steeler fan. Even in the darkest of Steeler times, he would root them on. We know a lot about Joe, but what we should know most about him was that he loved his family. So, every time you do a crossword puzzle, watch the Steelers, or tell a family member that you love them, just know that you have a little bit of Joe Brown in your heart. When you come to say goodbye, we invite you all to wear Black and Gold or your favorite Steeler Gear in his honor. Friends will be received Wednesday 2-8 p.m. in the Edward P. Kanai Funeral Home 500 Greenfield Ave. Funeral Thursday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Paul Cathedral Parish, St. Rosalia worship site at 10:00 a.m.
