Kathleen Marie O'Leary

April 15, 1929 ~ February 16, 2022 (age 92)

O’Leary Kathleen Marie, 92 of Pittsburgh. Passed peacefully on Wednesday, February 16, 2022. She is preceded in death by her parents Mary Agnes and Jeremiah O’Leary; brothers Jack (Isabel), Daniel (Anna Mae), Terrance (Irene-living); sisters Helen (Gregory) Monito, Bernice (George) Sliman, and Sr. Michele O’Leary, RSM. Forever in the hearts of numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. Especially nieces Kathleen Arroyo and Cynthia Syskowski, whose care and compassion kept “Aunt Kay” laughing and loving every day; as well as her lifelong friend and dear cousin Jean Ruzzi. A source of loving inspiration, Kathleen grew up in the Bluff (Uptown) with her parents and six siblings, with whom she is now reunited. She worked for State Farm Insurance Co, and lived in Mt. Lebanon for nearly 50 years, where she was an active member and volunteer at Saint Bernard Church of the Saint Michael the Archangel Parish. An avid reader and moviegoer, she visited nearly a dozen countries including the O’Leary homestead in Ireland. She embraced every tradition of her Irish heritage with enormous pride. Kathleen’s spirit transcends especially strong among the ladies in her family. Because of her unwavering confidence to explore the world, to live freely and independently, to thrive in a career, and to hold strong in your values- particularly remarkable because Kathleen lived in an era where those traits were not always celebrated in women. Kathleen’s family would like to thank the staff and her many friends at Vanadium Woods Village in Bridgeville and Locust Grove Personal & Memory Care in West Mifflin for their friendship and kindness these past few years. We love you Aunt Kay, two bushels! Family and friends will be received on Sunday from 2-6 p.m. in the Edward P. Kanai Funeral Home, 500 Greenfield Ave. 15207. Funeral Monday 9:15 a.m. in the Funeral Home. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Epiphany Roman Catholic Church, 184 Washington Pl.15219.In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Little Sisters of the Poor in Kathleen’s honor:
