Marie was a powerhouse of independence and integrity, always committed to hard work and doing what's right. She was proud of the long line of strong women who came before her. She had a passion for traveling and never missed an opportunity to send postcards from her journeys. She loved sharing her adventures through souvenirs and always sent heartfelt cards and little gifts to show she was thinking of you, to everyone she was Aunt Marie. She loved music and went to many concerts over the years, she liked to tell stories of seeing Dianna Ross and the Jackson 5. She loved movies and never missed the opportunity to take the nieces and nephews to a Thanksgiving matinee. She was bound and determined to make sure everyone had a good time, especially when they visited with her, whether that meant taking you to dinner or one of the sights around town. If you needed something, she was only a phone call away. She was always up-to-date with the latest in politics, sports, and weather. Marie cherished her Sunday morning phone calls with her brother Jerry and her sister-in-law Faith, she often tried new recipes that Faith passed along to her, although she never considered herself a cook. She had a knack for cracking silly jokes and always had a sarcastic comment ready to keep everyone on their toes and laughing.
Marie passed away peacefully on September 21, at the age of 73, after a brief illness. Her spirit and love will continue to inspire all who knew her. Get outta town.
