Aged 84 of Cleveland, Ohio, passed away peacefully at Jennings Center on January 7, 2022. Mary Greta was married to the love of her life, Robert Murphy (deceased), for 53 years. She is survived by: son, Robert Joseph Murphy, Jr.; daughter, Maryjo (Chris) Murphy Gortz; daughter, Kelly Ann (Don) Murphy Woodward; and six grandchildren, Charlie, Chloe and Lily Gortz and Catie, Donny and Michael Woodward. Mary Greta was born in Pittsburgh on July 4, 1937 to the late Ruth (nee Jernstrom) and Joseph Cunningham. Her warm smile brightened those around her, especially children, who were drawn to her. As a teacher at Noble Elementary in Cleveland Heights, she lovingly developed confidence in students with special needs, helping them achieve beyond their expectations. She valued her roles as Mom and later, “Nonny” as the most important of her life…and her children and grandchildren are forever grateful for it. Friends will be received on Wednesday  from 4-8 p.m. in the Edward P. Kanai Funeral Home. Funeral Mass Thursday at 10 a.m. in  St. Rosalia Worship site--St. Paul Cathedral Parish.
