Michael Anthony Terlecki Sr, 74, of Hazelwood, PA, passed away surrounded by the love of his family. He lived a life full of heart, humor, faith, and generosity—always showing up for the people who needed him, ready with a helping hand or a piece of advice that somehow made everything make sense.
Hazelwood was home for Michael, and so was the garage. Cars were more than a hobby—they were his craft, his joy, and his signature. He raced with excitement, fixed anything brought his way, and loved sharing his knowledge with others.
Michael’s career spanned decades, beginning with J & M Arco, a gas station he owned and operated with his brother (1970–1971). He then owned and operated Hazelwood Auto Body (1971–1982). He worked at Pulcini (1982–1985) and Pons Automotive (1985–1994), and finally found his home at Halbleib Automotive (1994 onward), where his son, Michael Jr., began working alongside him while still in high school—learning both the trade and the value of hard work. He had a gift for taking something broken and making it run better than before, and his skill and dedication left a lasting mark on everyone who knew him.
Michael’s heart was just as big as his skillset. He adored his dogs, Shelby and Bronco, and his grand-pups, Brady, Bruno, and Bandit. He was a devoted fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Pittsburgh Pirates, often found cheering them on and yelling at the TV during a big game. He enjoyed scratch-off tickets and the PA Lottery, and never passed up good food or sweets. Above all, he was the proudest spectator at his grandchildren’s sporting events and the best chauffeur anyone could ask for—always ready to pick someone up, drop someone off, or show up exactly when he was needed.
He was the person friends and family could call at any hour—whether it was to fix a car, change a tire on the side of the road, or share one of his simple but perfect pieces of advice. Michael lived with remarkable positivity and often said, “It is what it is, and it will all be okay.” He also taught his children and grandchildren accountability, reminding them, “You did it to yourself, and you have no one else to blame,” guiding them to take life as it was dealt. His faith remained strong, and he found comfort in knowing that Heaven was waiting for him.
Michael is survived by his children: Michael Terlecki Jr. (Tiniece Rosenberger), Tara Terlecki, and Danielle Terlecki; his grandchildren: Theresa Terlecki and Michael Anthony Terlecki III; his best pal, James Fazio; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Catherine (Guercio) and John Terlecki, and his brother, Joseph Terlecki.
Michael loved deeply and was deeply loved in return. His family finds peace knowing he is now reunited with those who passed before him and is watching over them with the same love, pride, and faith he carried throughout his life.
