Michael Edward “Eddie” Carr 70, of West Homestead, formerly of Greenfield, passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones at home on Saturday, October 12th, 2024. Preceded in death by his parents, John J. and Mary Jane Carr. Survived by his Devoted and loving wife of 41 years, Gail Carr; loving children, Candice (Anastasia) Carr, and Michael (Lindsey) Carr; siblings, Donna (Chris) Benko, Deborah Carr, James (Joan) Carr, Thomas (Ann) Carr, Jane (Joseph) Villella, and Patricia (Thomas) Wierzba. Eddie is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many, many friends.
Ed attended Bishop Boyle HS in 1968-1969. While attending Bishop Boyle, he played football for the Morningside Bulldogs. His time with the Bulldogs awarded him an athletic scholarship to Sanford Prep School in Hockessin, DE., where he played football and baseball, graduating from Sanford in 1972.
Ed worked at the US Postal Service for 40 years, retiring in 2012 as Postmaster of Turtle Creek. He continued to work as a Funeral Assistant at the Edward Kanai Funeral Home in Greenfield for 10 years.
Ed’s spare time was spent enjoying time with family, golfing with his many friends, and walking daily in Schenley Park.
Friends will be received on Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., and Thursday 2-8 p.m., in The Edward P. Kanai Funeral Home, 500 Greenfield Ave. 15207. Funeral is Friday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Therese Church of Munhall. All are kindly asked to please meet at church.
