Ronald Paul Craska, 56 of Greenfield passed peacefully on Friday, October 21, 2022 after a long illness.
The beloved son of the late Francis M. Craska, Sr. and Virginia L. (Giuliani) Craska, Ronny is survived by his two brothers, Francis Michael Jr. (Margaret) and Matthew Joseph (Jeneen).
Ron was cherished by many, including his seven nieces and nephews: Francis, III, Joseph, Peter, Laura and Caroline Craska of Gibsonia, PA and Heather and Ryan Craska of Medina, OH.
Ron is a 1986 graduate of the former St. Anthony’s Child Development School in Oakmont, PA. He worked for many years as a custodian and clerk at the former Community Drug in Greenfield.
In Ron’s younger days, he was a Special Olympian and won a Silver Medal in the Mile Run during the 1984 International Games in Brockport, NY. Following those games, he carried the Olympic Torch on a trail through Pittsburgh from NYC to LA in 1984.
Ron was exceptionally outgoing and befriended so many in his life, including the local Police and First Responders in the Pittsburgh area. Ron was affectionately dubbed the “Mayor of Greenfield” by many in the community.
Friends will be received on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Edward P. Kanai Funeral Home, 500 Greenfield Ave. 15207. Funeral Friday in the Funeral Home at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Kilian Church, Cranberry Township, PA at 10 am. Interment will follow at Monongahela Cemetery.
