Shaunda Kay Beasley was 46 when she passed away on October 22, 2025 in Pittsburgh, PA, surrounded by those who loved and knew her best. She was a firecracker, and all of her life she persisted, including up until the very end. Shaunda lost an intense battle with a brief illness. Her absence has left a huge hole in our hearts.
Shaunda was born on June 11, 1979 in DeRidder, Louisiana to Lynn Toney and Jack Beasley. Shaunda followed her family to Pittsburgh in 1999, where she ultimately decided to pursue a career in nursing. She graduated co-valedictorian from Clarion University of Pennsylvania in 2012. She loved nursing and one of her biggest sources of pride came from her position as a charge nurse at Shadyside Hospital in the ICU. Eventually, she moved on from nursing and started "Beaz Knees Lawn and Garden," her own successful landscaping business. Shaunda then decided to obtain her Master of Social Work from Capella University in 2024, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude and began her work as a child therapist with Adelphoi in the West Mifflin School District.
Shaunda was an amazing athlete from a young age, and played competitive softball throughout her life, including the local team the Bellisarios. She also played for the Pittsburgh Passion as a fullback until a knee injury ended her football career. She then switched her focus to coaching softball with the Special Olympics. Shaunda always found an opportunity to give, and touched countless lives.
Shaunda is survived by her spouse, Suzanne, and children Mia and Ollie. She is also survived by her younger sister, Jennifer (Sid), and their children, Desirè and Alex.
Shaunda was a talented artist and writer, an avid fisher, and loyal Steelers fan. She also had a passion for scuba diving. Most of all, she loved people. She connected with everyone from any background. However, her heart lay with ensuring the safety and happiness of children. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Children’s Home of Pittsburgh in Shaunda’s honor, as it is an organization that helps children in need. https://wl.donorperfect.net/weblink/weblink.aspx?name=E352536&id=1
