Sister Ann Driscoll, RSM (the former Sister M. Annunciata), a Pittsburgh Sister of Mercy for 78 years, died at the Convent of Mercy on September 20, 2024. Born in Stoneboro, Pa., she was 97 years old. Daughter of William Joseph and Rose Mary (Scurry) Driscoll, Sister Ann entered the Sisters of Mercy from St. Columbkille in Stoneboro in 1946 and made final vows in 1952.

Sister Ann brought joy and happiness to her ministry, a testament to her profound spiritual depth. She received a BA degree from Mount Mercy College and an MA from Seattle University. She taught for many years in Catholic elementary schools in the Pittsburgh Diocese, including Mount Mercy Academy, St. Elizabeth of Hungary in Pleasant Hills, St. Agnes, St. Regis, St. Agatha, Epiphany, and Immaculate Conception in Washington, Pa., and Holy Family in Ligonier, Pa. Sister Ann also spent seven years teaching eighth grade at Academia Católica in San Juan, Puerto Rico. In 1967, she was asked to go to Chimbote, Peru, where the Sisters of Mercy had just opened a mission. In 1991, Sister Ann lived in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and worked as a Chaplain in the Spiritual Care Department of Holy Cross Hospital before returning to the Convent of Mercy motherhouse in Pittsburgh, where she volunteered.
