Suzanne Duggan Obituary

Suzanne Marie Duggan passed away on October 3, 2024, in her home at Hilton Head, SC. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Kane Duggan and Margery Duggan Carroll; and her siblings, Kathleen Ann Duggan Birsic, Michael Ward Duggan, and Patricia Duggan Bendis. She is survived by her loving daughter, Rhiannon Marie Charles; her sisters, Mary Louise Babst (Chip), and Maureen Duggan; and her brothers, John Kane Duggan Jr. (Parie), J. Kevin Duggan (Anne), and Brian F. Duggan (Carol); as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Suzanne spent her childhood in the Pittsburgh area and graduated from Fox Chapel Area High School. She received a bachelor’s degree in cultural anthropology/art history from the University of Pittsburgh. She also studied Irish history and cultural studies at St. Patrick’s College Maynooth, County Kildare Ireland. After participating in archaeological work in locations from Belize to England, Suzanne settled into a career of administrative fundraising in the art world, mostly in Owen Sound, Ontario Canada where she raised her daughter. Her career most recently took her to the Hilton Head SC area with her partner, Brian Spencer, with the added attraction of a warmer climate.

Suzanne was the youngest of nine children. Her adventurous spirit was admired by all. Beyond her travels and activities in the art world and catching up with family members, especially her adult nieces and nephews, Suzanne’s greatest joy was the brightness provided by her daughter, Rhiannon, and her steadfast academic achievements which are continuing at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, BC. Her infectious smile and laugh will be greatly missed by all who loved her and very much looked forward to her engaging company.

The family appreciates all prayers and condolences offered for Suzanne’s passing. Funeral arrangements and a later Celebration of Life Memorial will be private. In
